Question about Brown ED along with MIT EA
So here is the question: Can an ED applicant to Brown University also apply EA to MIT? The MIT early action seems unrestricted so I'm guessing there is no conflict. Right?

Can I only do 2 years of Foreign Language?
I'm currently a Junior who is interested in science/cs. Would 2 years of foreign language be allowed or should I aim for more? I'll be done with 2 by the end of this year and can go up to 4 years through dual credit. I'd rather fill my schedule with another science class instead. I don't really like French and just want to get the years that I need to graduate. I would have taken it in school, but I am in orchestra and choir which take up my elective spaces. Would a third credit during the summer be a good compromise? I know that my senior year will be busy and I don't want to overdo it by taking an eighth class again. I would be applying through Questbridge if that helps. Also, what are Brown's hs requirements? I've searched before, but I've never found a link directly from Brown's website.

Chance me with a C Senior Year
Really want to get into Brown but I have a C in AP chem and I know Brown cares a lot about senior year grades and C's aren't really ivy standard. Plus my SAT score is not really Ivy quality so I want to know is a C will take me out of the running with my already border-line chances. Here's the rest of my Resume:
New SAT: 1490
SAT 2: Bio-M 760 Math 2 760
Unweighted: 4.0
Weighted: 4.84
Rank: 16/268 (top 6%)
APs: I took 14 APs but did didn't get a lot of 5s
Awards: Couple photography awards and a bronze in Le Grand Concours (National French Exam)
ECs; Non-profit organization that gives food to homeless shelters (president of my school's branch), Piano for 11 years (Jazz band soloist, trinity college london piano exams - passed 7 out of 8 levels), Piano accompanist for Solo and Ensemble County Music Festival, Varsity Tennis, Volunteer at my temple, Indian dance, babysitting and tutoring, cultural club president
Summer: Last summer volunteered at Johns Hopkins hospital, last last summer did a little clean water availability research internship in India
I want to major in biochemistry (pre med) which is what makes me worried about the C. all my other grades are As. I realize I sound kind of petty worrying about this one C but Brown is a tough school and its my top choice so.
Thank you!

From 4 Year to 2 Year after disciplinary suspension?
I know this sounds ridiculous but I had just found out from my schools hearing board that I have been put onto a one year suspension after getting involved in a physical fight. I have two options right now. 1) Transfer to another school and continue my education there with the risk of not being able to transfer my credits. I am looking at a community college where I believe I can get a fresh start. Though I have my mind set on this community college I am still looking into four years yet again I run the risk of not being able to transfer my credits over. 2) Wait until my one year is up and then continue at the same college. This is the least likely for me as I cannot see myself going back to that school at all. I did not get along with the people their fore the were very childish and were drawn to drama. I am willing to hear what other people think is best had they been placed in the same situation.

Biology at Brown?
Hi guys,
I want to study biology in college (not pre-med). I've been interested in all kinds of biology, from cellular/molecular type stuff to ecology/evolution/behavior type biology.
I also visited Brown this past spring and really liked it. Although I was a little underwhelmed by the dorms and food, I loved the vibe of the campus and the people I saw and talked to. The open curriculum is also pretty cool.
My question is basically about whether or not Brown is good for biology if I'm not interested in the pre-med track. Other people have told me it's mainly a humanities school and that I should take it off my list and replace it with a school with stronger biology like Duke or UChicago. Is Brown really that weak in bio? And if so, does it really even matter for undergrad?

ED Interview (India)
I applied ED to Brown but I am yet to hear from an alumni for my interview. The deadline for the interviewers to submit their interview documents is 1st December. Has anyone in India received their interview calls? What can I do if I haven't received it yet?

Milton Academy and Brown
Hi All,
Milton Academy (and other Prep Schools like Phillips, Groton, St. Pauls...) are really hard to get into, I worked my ass off to get into Milton (and Andover). I'm now a sophomore there and I've noticed something very peculiar about Milton's college placement.
For the past 5 years, Milton has about 10 students every year attend Brown as an Undergraduate. I am friends with a few Brown students too. Does Milton and Brown have like a bond like Roxbury Latin and Harvard? The Brown Admissions director came to my school for a lecture once. Does Brown have preference over Milton students? I really hope so, because its really hard to do well at Milton, like really hard.
Also, a more broad but still relevant question, what does Milton and other prep schools do in order to help students get into top schools or at least student's top choice?

Help with where have you lived supplement?
I'm having trouble with the supplement about where I have lived. "Tell us where you have lived - and for how long - since you were born; whether you've always lived in the same place, or perhaps in a variety of places" (100 words).
I grew up in a well-off family and have lived-in the same house my whole life. Furthermore, I grew up in a suburb that many people would say is snobby/predominantly white, and I fit the mold (white male). Anyway, I know Brown cares a lot about diversity and I don't want to come across as a cookie cutter rich kid, so I'm struggling with how to frame the essay. The question is also pretty straight to the point, so I'm not sure how much I can 'spin' the question and talk about something else.

story behind "the rock" library at Brown
At my tour at Brown, my tour guide said an interesting story about the name, but I couldn't find anything online about it. She said that Rockefeller donated money for a library to be built and named after him. Students abbreviated the long name "The John D Rockefeller Memorial Library" to "the rock". Rockefeller heard about it and said students have to call it by the full name. So students started calling it "the john" and the foundation said "the rock" is ok. Is this true??
